Make money blogging

(To make this clear, I found this image and some other past images on Google. I want to clarify that in case the person/s who created the photos find their work on "No Title". I'm not the originator of most of the photos I use, but I like the photo and used it.)

There’s a lot of bloggers out there who choose not to make money blogging and I know why, they see blogging as a hobby or they don’t write for the money; there’s multiple reasons why and I give much respect to those who chose not to get paid. On the other hand, there’s the bloggers out there who think, maybe I can make money from blogging, maybe this might be the answer to doing something I truly love and make a living from it. Why not? For some, they don’t want to bombard their readers with ads and I understand, in today’s world, everywhere you go on the internet, there’s some kind of pop up ad or something that distracts you from your main goal; that can get annoying.

However, there are sites out there that are smooth about advertising. One site being Info links. If you’ve been too my page a few times, or even if you’re reading this, you’ll notice that there’s certain words, that are highlighted in green with two lines under them. For those who don’t know, those aren’t key words to my story or my write, those are in text advertisements. When one scrolls over them or clicks on them, an ad pops up. If it appeals to you while you’re reading, than one can click on it and it’ll take you to their site; if you’re not interested one can simply move their mouse away from the link and the ad will disappear. I figured that’s not that bad. It’s better than some sites I visited, before the page even loads I’m being bombarded with ads left and right and I’m totally turned off by the page; usually I find myself hitting the back button to escape this “ad in the box” chaos.

I want people to read what I have to say and I feel bombarding them with advertisements is not the way to go. However I don’t mind the ads but I want people to see the ads at their own consent. I have 60 post and if you look at every one of them, there all about things I like to write about, things that either inspire me, things that seem interesting to me, life, poetry, art, religion, theory, any and everything, that’s why the blog title is “No Title”. There is no specific niche for this blog. I don’t do this for the money, the most I’ve made is $2.35 and I couldn’t even collect that because the first time I had info links, they kicked me out before I could reach the pay-out limit. I digress. My point: we all want to do something we love in life and if money is an option, why not get paid for doing something you love? There’s nothing wrong with getting paid for doing something you love. However, if you’re only purpose is for the money, you might want to reconsider what you’re doing. When you do it for the money, one’s post may not show fervency; if anything, there’s going to be some half ass writes and it may lack originality. So go ahead, get paid for writing, just remember, make sure it’s original and make sure it’s not about the $.

  1. When I started blogging, I didn't do it for the money but figured I might make a buck or two...and I was right. In my three+ years of blogging I have made exactly that. :) I'm glad that's not the reason I went in to it, though I'm sure I'd have made more had I really tried. Still, it's such a steep hill to climb.

    1. I wonder if it is possible to make enough money blogging to pay for the electricity I use on my computer. I't a goal anyhow. I have been at it for about five years now, and have been viral over a few times... but no luck yet.

    2. PB, have you check the worth of your domain? You might be able to sell it to someone whose looking for a blog with high traffic. If you're getting a million visitors a year, I'm pretty sure it's unique traffic and anyone trying to start a business or already has a business, and is looking for a boost might buy your domain for a pretty penny. After that, you might be able to flip that profit and make even more. Start a new blog, maybe divert some of that traffic to your new domain and then use some of it for paid advertising and still have some left over to pay your electricity bill. Someone else might be able to turn your one million a year traffic into one million a month or one million every two months. A million people a year? Dude that's a TON of traffic! lol...someone is bound to pay at least $10,000 (that's starting at a humble price) or even more for a site that's already booming. You should give it a shot.

  2. It's funny because I see a lot of blog post about how easy it is to make money online but there's never any post that show how hard it is to actually make ends meet. However, I look at blogging like acting or even being a professional musician. There are tons of people who have made it; I feel in some sense, that field is even harder. As a blogger, you need some good traffic consistently, or pray or hope one of your post goes viral. I think even going viral may not make you money but it will lead you to money. It's basically a dream but dreams can come true. The first step to success is to dream. Evey successful person I've ever met or have heard in interviews has always mentioned something about dreaming, which is technically vision, it's what you do with that vision. What plan or action do you have that can carry it out.

In Ninja turtles part two, Leonard said something that was very true, "A true ninja is a master of his own environment, so do forget were turtles!" They jumped in the water and survived the "super shredder". In that scene, shredder was so strong, they could not defeat him with usual tactics, so they had to use their surroundings in order to defeat him. If they didn't, they would have died from him tearing down the pier; this is something found in the art of war. My point: as a blogger, you have to use your ground, your surroundings. Most will not make it without some sort of paid advertising or organic traffic. Let's face it, when you start, nobody has no idea who you are. You can't just write and expect people to come. You have to make some noise in order for people to know where you are. I'm pretty sure there are MILLIONS of bloggers out there who we may never know of because they choose to remain silent. In order to make money, you have to spend a little money...=) Thank you reading and commenting Janene! =)

  3. OK, now I know what those green underlined words are that I see sometimes on various blogs. I thought they were keywords. I agree that Info links seems much better that putting ads directly on a blog, which can get annoying. But I can also see how it wouldn’t generate much revenue. I love blogging. I blog for the love of writing. Btw, thanks for stopping by my blog!

    1. JerseyLil, Thank you for commenting on my blog as well! =) And you're right, info links does not pay much however, if someone has the right amount traffic, you might be able to make some steady pay. I haven't met anyone online or off line who has yet to make serious money off of the links BUT that doesn't mean someone out there is making some kind of money. It's possible info links could be using paid advertising by having people write positive reviews online about info links being a great way to make some money but I doubt there doing that. When it comes to ways of getting paid online, Info links ranks second to Google ad sense and I think Kontera another ad service is third in line. Idk...either someone is lying or someone out there is really getting paid. lol

  4. PB one last thing, I found a calculator online that can measure the worth of your blog...it's for fun but it's a number you can start with. It wasn't the true amount of worth because I was guessing the numbers on your blog but the calculator put your worth at $5,760.90. That was only from me guessing because it was asking me personal information only you would know...this means your blog is probably worth double that amount or even triple that amount given the true numbers. Sir, you have made money from blogging. =)
